Menu Magic1 v2.08 update

IMPORTANT...
This Update requires Menu Magic1 version 2.03, 2.06 or 2.07 to be installed on your system.

Compatibility Update for Dreamweaver MX & MX2004

This is a maintenance update which provides full compatibility with Dreamweaver MX and higher. It is a cumulative update and includes all of the previous upgrade enhancements.

Installation

Install the 2.08 Update MXP (the link is at the bottom of this page). To install, download and save the MXP to your hard drive. Either double-click the MXP or use the Extension Manager to initiate the installation.

Note: DO NOT Uninstall your current version. This is an update to v2.03, v2.06, or v2.07 and requires that version to be installed on your system for a proper update.

When prompted to overwrite the existing files, say Yes To All.

When the installation completes, you will see 2 entries in the Extension Manager window:

  1. Menu Magic 1 by PVII
  2. Menu Magic 1 2.08 Upgrade by PVII

Do not delete anything. The next time you use Menu Magic, the Extension Manager duplicate will be removed.

Inspecting or modifying an existing Magic Menu, or applying the new Submenu Controller behavior, will automatically update existing Menu Magic JavaScripts in your page.

Note: Externalized Javascript Files: If you've relocated your scripts to an external .js file, you'll need to manually update the scripts in the external file. The easiest way to do that, is to create a simple test page and insert a single button Magic Menu. If you plan on using the Submenu Controller then apply an instance on your test page, as well. Go into Source Code View and copy all of the scripts. Paste the scripts inside your external .js file... overwriting the v2.03/2.06/2.07 scripts.

Includes the ver2.06 New Feature:
The Sub Menu Controller

There may be times when you want one or more of your Menu Magic buttons to simply link to a new page without opening a submenu layer. Although there are ways to plan a design to accomodate this, many users have requested a feature that enables them to disable an existing submenu layer while keeping the rollover and down-state functionality of the button. A good example would be when your Magic Menu is contained in a frameset.

Using the Sub Menu Controller

To Access the Menu Magic1 SubMenu Controller behavior:

  1. Click the <body> tag (located at the bottom left of the main Dreamweaver window).
  2. Open the Behaviors Panel.
  3. Click the plus (+) sign to open the behaviors menu.
  4. Select Studio VII- Menu Magic- The Menu Magic1 SubMenu Controller by PVII.
  5. Click the Help button on the SubMenu Controller window to access a detailed tutorial.
